The film by Marta Reis Andrade is competing in the Best of the Best in Short Film category, with the ceremony taking place on 28 October, in Kraków.
"Cão Sozinho" ("Dog Alone"), by Marta Reis Andrade, is one of five films nominated in the Best of the Best in Short Film category of the 2026 Emile Awards — the European Animation Awards —, alongside "God is Shy" (Jocelyn Charles, France), "Hunting" (Lea Favre, Switzerland), "Hurikán" (Jan Saska, Czech Republic/France/Slovakia/Bosnia and Herzegovina) and "Playing God" (Matteo Burani and Arianna Gheller, Italy/France).
Produced by BAP – Animation Studios, in co-production with Ikki Films (France) and Olivier Catherin, "Dog Alone" has already screened over a hundred times at international festivals, including winning Best Ibero-American Animated Short Film at the 2026 Quirino Awards, the Grand Prize at Cinanima – Espinho International Animated Film Festival, and the Vasco Granja/SPA Grand Prize at Monstra – Lisbon Animation Festival.
The Emile Awards, founded in 2017, honour the best European animated films each year, across both short and feature categories.
The ceremony changes city every edition — in 2025, it was held during PÖFF Shorts, in Estonia.
