The films directed by Marta Reis Andrade and Alice Eça Guimarães were awarded the first prizes in the Portuguese Competition at Monstra – Lisbon Animation Festival.
The short film “Dog Alone” (Marta Reis Andrade, 2025, Portugal/France, ANI, 13′) was awarded the SPA Grand Prix of the Vasco Granja Portuguese Competition at the 26th edition of Monstra – Lisbon Animation Festival. The film also received the Best Portuguese Short Film Award in the Short Film Competition. In the same competition, “Because Today is Saturday” (Alice Eça Guimarães, 2025, Portugal/France/Spain, ANI, 12′) received the Audience Award. The jury, composed of Anete Melece, José Manuel Costa, and Marcel Jean, decided to award the SPA Grand Prix to “Dog Alone” for being “a visually stunning and deeply vibrant fable that portrays the pain of loneliness and hints at secrecy and mystery, leading the viewer toward reconnection”. The awards ceremony took place on March 21st at Cinema São Jorge.
