After their world premiere at Curtas Vila do Conde, the short films by directors André Silva Matos and Alice Eça Guimarães were distinguished by the festival jury and audience.
The short film “Sol Menor” (André Silva Santos, 2025, Portugal, FIC, 27′) was awarded the Best Film in Portuguese Competition prize by the jury of the 33rd edition of Curtas Vila do Conde – International Film Festival. In addition to this distinction, the film was also selected as a nominee for the European Film Awards, in the Best Short Film Award – Prix Vimeo category.
At the same festival, the film “Because Today is Saturday” (Alice Eça Guimarães, 2025, Portugal / France / Spain, ANI, 12′) was awarded the Portuguese Audience Award. The 2025 edition marked the 33rd edition of Curtas Vila do Conde, one of the most important international festivals dedicated to short films.
