The award-winning film "Uncle Thomas, Accounting For The Days" by director Regina Pessoa will be highlighted in the exhibition of the 15th edition of ANIMAR, an educational project aimed at awakening the interest of children and young people for the movin

Since 2005, ANIMAR has been asserting itself as one of the most consistent educational projects in the Northern region of Portugal. In addition to an exhibition held annually at the Solar - Cinematic Art Gallery, ANIMAR is characterized by the continuity of the training offer and the educational service carried out throughout the years by the Curtas Metragens CRL, in partnership with various school entities and institutions. As its name implies, the project focuses on animation cinema and the moving image.

The exhibition ANIMAR, which will open on February 15th and is held until June 6th, will have its main focus on the film "Uncle Thomas, Accounting for the Days", by Regina Pessoa and the celebration of 20 anniversary of this filmmaker's career. At ANIMAR 15, several materials used in the production of Regina Pessoa's films will be presented, such as objects that document her creative process: from the textual and graphic records that document the initial idea for the film, to the various 'storyboards', the reference images that inspired the director and some of the objects that belonged to uncle Tomás.

A second animation film will be approached at this exhibition, "Purpleboy" by Alexandre Bohrer Siqueira, film that was awarded at Curtas Vila do Conde in 2019, produced by Bando à Parte, Rainbox Productions and Ambiances.

The main objective of ANIMAR is bringing cinema to schools and attracting children to the cinema world, in order to understand the process of moving image, to familiarize with the cinema language and the image analysis through practical, simple and fun activities. For this, directors, producers and other professionals from the cinema world are invited to share their professional experience with students from the region, through short and medium-length workshops and ateliers.
