PÖFF Shorts – Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival takes place from 10 to 18 November 2026, in Tallinn and Tartu, Estonia. As part of the Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF), which presents itself as one of the biggest film festivals in Northern Europe, PÖFF Shorts is an Academy Award qualifying festival.
This year, it selected 115 films from 44 countries for the international animation and live-action competitions. Five films from the Agência’s catalogue are among those selected, spread across two competitions:
Shorts Animation Competition
“Terminal”, by Alexandre Siqueira
“Vagabond”, by Susa Monteiro
“Virgin Fandango”, by Marcy Page
Shorts Live-Action Competition
“Asphalt Reds”, by João Niza Ribeiro
“A Few Things Happening by a River”, by Daniel Soares
In both competitions, the Best Film prize makes the winner eligible for Academy Award consideration. The festival also selects, from among the competing films, one European film as its candidate for the European Film Awards. The full programme will be announced on 30 October 2026.
