The films directed by Alexandre Sousa, Marta Reis Andrade and Alice Eça Guimarães have been nominated for the 15th edition of Sophia Awards from the Portuguese Film Academy.
The films “Amarelo Banana”(Alexandre Sousa, 2025, Portugal/Hungary, ANI, 13′) “Dog Alone” (Marta Reis Andrade, 2025, Portugal/France, ANI, 13′), and “Because Today is Saturday” (Alice Eça Guimarães, 2025, Portugal/France/Spain, ANI, 12′), have been nominated for Best Animated Short Film at the Sophia Awards. In 2026, the Portuguese Film Academy presents the 15th edition of the awards, dedicated to the best in Portuguese cinema, under the theme “Projecting the present, imagining the future.” Winners will be announced during the awards ceremony on May 16th, at the Belém Cultural Center, with a live broadcast on RTP2.
