Alice Eça Guimarães' film received two awards at the 13th Tokyo Anime Award Festival (Japan).
The short film “Because Today is Saturday” (Alice Eça Guimarães, 2025, Portugal/France/Spain, ANI, 12′) was awarded the Grand Prize at the 13th edition of the Tokyo Anime Award Festival, an international festival dedicated to animation cinema held in Tokyo. In addition to this award, the film also received the Tokyo Governor’s Award. The short film competition jury was composed of Taku Furukawa, Kensuke Yamamoto, Nadja Andrasev, and Nuno Beato. The awards ceremony took place on March 16 at TOHO Cinemas Ikebukuro.
