The short films "Because Today is Saturday", "Dog Alone", "The Bird From Within", and "Somos Todos Peixes" are part of the official selection of CINANIMA – Espinho International Animated Film Festival.

From November 7th to 15th, Espinho will host the 49th edition of CINANIMA – International Animated Film Festival, one of the most important stages worldwide dedicated to animation. This year, the Agência – Portuguese Short Film Agency will be represented by a selection of Portuguese films competing in the festival’s main sections.

In the Portuguese and International Competition, audiences will be able to see "Dog Alone (Marta Reis Andrade, 2025, Portugal / France, ANI, 13′) and "Because Today is Saturday" (Alice Eça Guimarães, 2025, Portugal / France / Spain, ANI, 12′), two works that blend strong authorial identity with a distinctive visual language.

In the Young Portuguese Filmmaker – over 18 and up to 30 years old category, director Laura Anahory presents "The Bird From Within" (2024, Portugal, ANI, 6′), exploring poetic and intimate universes. In the section dedicated to young filmmakers under 18, the spotlight goes to "Somos Todos Peixes" (2024, Portugal, ANI / DOC, 3′), a collective project developed by children from the Casa da Criança of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Vila do Conde, under the guidance of Miguel Lima and Carolina Bonzinho, highlighting the importance of nurturing and encouraging filmmaking from an early age.
