Luís Costa's short film is part of the Vienna Shorts International Fiction and Documentary Competition, to be held between May 27th and June 1st.
"Our Kingdom", directed by Luís Costa (Bando À Parte) was selected for the International Fiction and Documentary Competition of the 18th Vienna Shorts - International Short Film Festival, which will take place in a hybrid format (in person and online), between May 27th and June 1st.
The film awarded in October 2020, with the Audience Award, at the 28th Curtas Vila do Conde - International Film Festival, has the participation of actors Afonso Lobo and António Júlio Duarte and is inspired by the novel of the same name by Valter Hugo Mãe, that has as background a village where space and time are running out.
Luís Costa was born in 1993, in Porto. In 2014 he concludes his degree in Sound and Image at the School of Arts of the Catholic University of Porto. He has worked on several projects in the audiovisual area, and his two short films of academic context have been recognized in several national and international festivals. He has also developed parallel projects in photography and video clips, among others. He is co-founder and director of the Pinehouse Concerts project and in 2017 premiered "O Homem Eterno" (The Eternal Man), where Sophia was awarded the Best Documentary Short Film by the Portuguese Film Academy.
Vienna Shorts was created in 2004 and annually exhibits more than 200 works from all parts of the globe. This festival is a qualifying event for international awards such as the BAFTA (British Film Awards), European Film Awards and Oscars.
