"Nestor" and "Uncle Thomas, Accounting for the Days" will be screened at the 35th Anima - Brussels International Animation Film Festival, that will take place from February 21st to March 1st in Brussels.
"Nestor", the second film by the young director João Gonzalez, was selected for the international student film competition of Anima. At the same time "Uncle Thomas, Accounting for the Days", by Regina Pessoa, was chosen for the international competition of short animation films.
João Gonzales’s film is a result of his first year master's degree project in Animation at the Royal College of Art in London. "Nestor" had its premiere in November 2019 at the Cinanima festival, where it was awarded the "Best Film in National Competition". The film follows Nestor, a man with obsessive-compulsive behaviour, who lives in an unstable houseboat.
The short animated film "Uncle Thomas, Accounting for the Days", co-produced between Portugal (Abi Feijó, Ciclope Filmes), France (Reginald de Guillebon, Les Armateurs) and Canada (Julie Roy, ONF), has been recognized worldwide, winning awards at renowned festivals like Annie Awards (EUA), Annecy (France), Animamundi, Animafix and Animage (Brazil), Imaginária, and Riga IFF (Latvia).
