Diogo Salgado's film was awarded an Honorable Mention at the Philosophical Film Festival, which took place between May 22 and 28, 2025, in Skopje.
The short film “Under The Mountains' Shadows” (Diogo Salgado, 2025, Portugal/France/Belgium, FIC, 20') was awarded an Honorable Mention at the 15th edition of the Philosophical Film Festival. The distinction, awarded as part of the special “Stefan Sidovski – Sido” prize, recognizes the philosophical and aesthetic depth of this short film.
The festival jury highlighted the film as a meditative work that addresses themes such as isolation, impermanence, and the silent influence of nature on human consciousness. The narrative follows Pedro, a young man traveling for the first time in a van transporting workers to France. While his companions view the trip as just another work assignment, Pedro is seduced by the imposing mountains of the Alps, which evoke existential questions about youth, hope, and fragility.
