"Rare Bird", by Vasco Saltão has just been awarded at the most recent edition of 2 ANNAS - Riga International Short Film Festival.

"Rare Bird", by Vasco Saltão (Terratreme Filmes) was distinguished with the Best Mid-Length Award at the 2 ANNAS - Riga International Short Film Festival, which takes place between April 9th and 15th.

The jury made the following statement: "To a film that questions how we interpret the world around us and how we relate to the perspectives of our fellow human beings. In documentary-like naturalism, the film masterfully plays with our expectations. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No - it's an angel!"

"They all say that you killed an Angel. Who says that? They. It’s not an Angel. It isn’t? No. It’s a rare bird, just like you and me", thus it is possible to sum up the film that has 11 selections in national and international film festivals, and was, in 2019, awarded Best Film of the National Competition at the 27th Curtas Vila do Conde - International Film Festival.

Vasco Saltão was born in Lisbon and graduated from Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema. Since 2002 he has worked professionally in Cinema, in the areas of Screenwritting and Image, having collaborated with directors such as Leonor Noivo, Pedro Pinho, João Salaviza, Carlos Conceição, Filipa Reis and João Miller Guerra, among others.

2 ANNAS was created in 1996 and gained its international status only in 2005. Its main focus is the exhibition of short and medium-length films.
