The films "Nha Mila", by Denise Fernandes, and "Elo", by Alexandra Ramires (Xá), were awarded at the National Competition of PORTO FEMME - International Film Festival, which took place in Oporto between 30th September and 5th October.
"Nha Mila" won the Best Film Award in National Competition. The film by Denise Fernandes follows Salomé who, after 14 years away from her homeland, travels to Santiago Island, in Cape Verde, to visit her brother whose life is hanging by a thread. Awarded at festivals such as the Verin International Short Film Festival, or the Imagineindia International Film Festival Madrid, "Nha Mila" was produced by O Som e a Fúria and Ventura Films.
Alexandra Ramires' film, "Elo", was awarded for Best Animated Film in the festival's National Competition. Produced by Bando à Parte, the short film has won awards at festivals such as Monstra Festival de Animação de Lisboa, 3D Wire / Weird Festival - International Animation Short Film Festival or Brussels Short Film Festival.
