The shortest day of the year has come!

Between December 21 and 22 that winter arrives in the northern hemisphere.This astronomical phenomenon marks the shortest day of the year and inspired the creation of the great short film party, The Short Film Day!

On December 21, the shortest day of the year, the sun sets early, but cinema don't. Touring the country since December 1st, The Short Film Day initiative celebrates the date with several film proposals for the whole family. Agência da Curta Metragem presents four programs that, until December 30th, will reach 37 Portuguese locations. Tomorrow, and to mark the date, 17 sessions will be presented from north to south of Portugal.

There will also be three special screenings at Cinema Trindade, Cinema Ideal and Cinemateca Portuguesa. At Cinema Trindade, in Porto, a selection of films that explore gender and identity issues will be presented, and will have the presence of directors Alexandre Siqueira, Paulo Patrício and Diogo Costa Amarante. At Cinema Ideal, a special session dedicated to João Rosas' work will take place, with the presence of the director and guest Pedro Mexia. At the Cinemateca Portuguesa, the programming presented will be wider, including films about the sea, with the presence of Abi Feijó, Natália Azevedo Andrade and Pedro Neves.
