"Entre Sombras" by Alice Guimarães and Mónica Santos with production of Animals AVPL, Vivement Lundi! and A Segundo Filmes, is nominated for Best Animation Short Film at the César Awards of the French Academy of Cinema.
The 44th edition of the César award ceremony, to be held on 22 February in the Pleyel Room (Paris) and with the César Prize, will be presented to the Academy of Arts and Techniques du Cinéma in France this morning. direct broadcast on Canal +, will feature the latest short film by the duo of directors Mónica Santos and Alice Guimarães in the category of Best Short Animation.
"Entre Sombras" is a stop motion animation, using the technique of pixilation, inspired by the elements of the movies noir and has as scenery the city of Porto, in the 1940s, involved in mystery and shadow games. The story, narrated by Margarida Vila-Nova, accompanies a bank employee (Sara Costa), where hearts settle, in an adventure in search of a stolen heart. The various dangers she faces, in the company of a mysterious man (Gilberto Oliveira), lead her into a dilemma: giving her heart or keeping it to herself.
The film was co-produced by France's Vivement Lundi! and by Portugal's Um Segundo Filmes and is distributed by the Short Film Agency. It had a world premiere in June of 2018 at Festival Animafest Zagreb and, in July in Portugal, at Curtas Vila do Conde, having been distinguished in both with the Prize of the Public. Since then he has also been awarded prizes in several festivals around the world, with special emphasis on the Special Jury Prize at the Hiroshima International Animation Festival (Japan), the Special Mention of the Young Jury and the Public Prize at the Short Film Festival (Brazil ), the Young Jury Prize "City of Montpellier" at Cinéma Méditerranéen Montpellier (France), the Best Animation and Honorable Mention of the Jury Press CISION on the Caminhos do Cinema Português and the Prize of the Public in the ambit of the 2018 National Animation Award of the Casa da Animação (attached list of attendance at festivals and prizes).
