The short films "O Homem Eterno" by Luis Costa and "Grbavica" by Manel Raga Raga were selected for the Festival du nouveau cinéma in Montreal. The films are part of the international short film competition.
Produced by Bando à Parte, "O Homem Eterno" tells the story of Bernardino Fernandes, an emigrant in Canada who, over two decades, recorded hundreds of Super 8 reels, arranging them in a methodical and obsessive way. The short film ends an old process, transforming Bernardino's desire for cinema into a film about the images of his memory.
"Grbavica", by Manel Raga Raga, deals with an apparently banal event: a ball stuck in the river with the city of Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia, as background. The film results from a co-production between Portugal, Spain and Bosnia-Herzegovina and had world premiere at Locarno festival.
Festival du nouveau cinéma takes place from 3 to 14 October in Montreal.
